Osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the common form of arthritis. It is a ailment that affects articular cartilage.

Cartilage is a complex tissue that has a matrix substance made of water, collagen, and proteoglycans (proteins blended with sugars). In addition, muscle mass groups, called chondrocytes, sit inside the matrix and decide to manufacturing the matrix.

The increase of OA is a complicated procedure that is hastened by genes, trauma, and aging.

The exact sequence of events leading to OA is still a question of conjecture. However, as it is often the most common style of arthritis and affects almost all people (approximately 20 million Americans), is it doesn't subject of intense checking it out.

Unfortunately, the treatment of OA, to date, is going to be poor. It consists primarily of symptomatic relief.
